Moodcrush – “Megahog” – Review

Moodcrush

The new label in Boston comes out swinging with this release of pure rock swagger. Moodcrush combine ripping solos that remind one of early Aerosmith or AC/DC (somebody called it metal and another shouted Mott the Hoople), with lyrical enunciation that could only be compared to Freddy Mercury (R.I.P.) in a wicked mood. While the vocals may get whiney and grate on some people’s nerves after a bit, it’s great to hear a singer work in a higher range with some nice vibrato in his voice. When you put the voice over the heavy, choppy guitars, the sound is entirely their own. Definitely a band to watch.
