Formed from the ashes of doom metal band Vox Populi, it’s not much of a surprise that Reign is as tight as a virgin and as heavily-plodding as Big Foot. The sweetly sorrowful doom melodies are contrasted with the ripping solos and speedcore drumming. John Cook’s roaring vocals still adhere to the doom/death agenda, but the 10 minute epics are interrupted with short bursts of thrash mania.
