Timco – Friction Tape – Review

Friction Tape (Basura!)
by Joshua Brown

Any other band would have trouble pulling this off. Simplistic melancholy art rock, a formula which has been played out ad infinitum. Very good lyrics and a certain rhythmic sincerity are what shine through the somewhat humdrum format and make Timco‘s brand of “sadcore” especially addictive. It seems that toiling through the late ’80s in relative obscurity with the band Nice Strong Arm has paid off for frontman Kevin Thomson and drummer Ethel M.D. Fans of Codeine or American Music Club will dig this.
