The Psyclone Rangers – The Devil May Care – Review

The Psyclone Rangers

The Devil May Care (World Domination)
by Lex Marburger

It opens with two bland alternarock tunes. Start with “Firenze.” It’s still alternarock, but it’s got more originality. A faint odor of the beach lies under the rich music. Well-crafted, with melodies that resemble an Ant-lion’s den: You fall in and are digging it before you know what’s happening. Then you get hit with the lead guitar antagonizing and needling your ear, dirty and bar-brand spawned. They kick a cover of the Modern Lovers’ “I’m Straight” and succeed in getting the feel, if not the inflection of Mr. Richman. Great musical moments, but the entire CD needs to be at that level.
