Welt – Better Days – Review

Welt

Better Days (Doctor Dream)
by Chaz Thorndike

Young, energetic and with tongue planted firmly in cheek, Welt grin through their debut of punk anthems. Songs about girls, making mistakes, making choices, and stupid people; Welt sings a-day-in-the-life-of-Welt and we relate. Nothing like a lazy summer blasting some cool punkpop that’s saying things that really make sense. My favorite is “Lose That Girl.” While it’s not the most profound piece of writing I’ve heard, it’s the way Jason Cooper sings it so quotably, they’ve obviously listened to their fair share of Bad Religion. Quick, melodic, honest and well-produced, Welt is a young band with a bright future. Perhaps it’s my ears, but I hear some really strange chord progressions tucked in there oh-so-subtly.. Is that a mock Pearl Jam vocal? A Nirvana chord progression? Naw, it must be my ears.
