Opeth – Orchid – Review

Opeth

Orchid (Candlelight)
by Chris Dick

From the opening note of “In Mist She Was Standing” to the last vocal harmony of “The Apostle In Triumph,” I knew the music would forever be engraved in my soul. Sweden’s Opeth orchestrate a soulful blend of extreme metal with the spirit of ’70s progressive rock, to create something entirely unique. Bypassing violins or other classical crutches, Opeth uses the basics with an emphasis on twin guitar melodies and pounding rhythms. Opeth have accomplished legendary status in one album, while it takes others six, seven, or never! “Orchid” is a flower of soul spirit, and metal. Find at all costs.
