Don’t! Buy! Thai! – Review

Don’t! Buy! Thai!

by Rebekah Sue Harris

The Don’t! Buy! Thai! page supports a “Save the Children”-type cause. Kids in Thailand are used as cheap labor in factories like those deemed inhumane in the United States a hundred years ago. Many of those who escape this plight are sold for sexual purposes. In fact, according to this page, Thailand is a tourist attraction for adults looking for kids to screw. The text is clear and easy to comprehend. There are lists of companies who specialize in Thai products in case you care to boycott (I’m gonna miss you, Pier 1!), a letter from attorney and child advocate Andrew Vachs (who wrote Batman: The Ultimate Evil), quotes from the Thai government (they’re so upset about a potential boycott of Thai goods that they’re threatening to ban Batman in Thailand – we like to piss off governments!), and even includes a nifty little FAX you can send to your Congressperson. If you’re into saving the world, or saving kids, or a good cause, this is a great page to explore.
