The Rock*A*Teens – Review

The Rock*A*Teens

(Daemon)
by Jeff Fritz

Take yer basic psychosurf and rootsrock barnstomp approach and throw it together with some barely passable guitar playing, a little simplistic drumming, and a whole bunch of fairly awful singing, and what you end up with may be surprisingly entertaining. Describing themselves as “orbisonic reverb-drenched art-billy bummer rock,” the Rock*A*Teens have recorded another swell and sloppy addition to the American catalog of house party favorites that’s perfect for indulging in with friends or with a group of total strangers dancing in their underwear. This disc is bursting with ripe hooks and goofy melodrama and shows no regard whatsoever for the anal-retentive tendencies of musical competence.
