Forget creative metaphors, they’re not necessary. Just bob your head up and down. Ask most heavy metal acts what type of music they play and they’ll say, “it’s rock ‘n’ roll, man.” This indicates an assumed relevance to the big picture that doesn’t always wash. Fitz of Depression play hardcore punk that’s not aimed at the lowest common denominator of punkdom. They have an extra flair which prevents them from being typecast that some people like to term an “indie sensibility,” without the over-thinking-ness often associated with it.
