Sons And Daughters of this Savage Land – Review

Sons And Daughters of this Savage Land

(Hardline)
by Chaz Thorndike

In case the cover didn’t clue ya in, this is a comp of the rudest hard punk you’ll find on today’s market. Sixteen tracks of brutal scum rock by seven of the most gloriously depraved degenerate bands I can think of. And yes, there are G.G. Allin covers, two to be exact, and one by the Business. “Rowdy Beer Drinkin’ Night” is covered by Merle and the Murder Junkies, and “Bite It” is done by Cocknoose, so at least the covers are done properly. Of all the bios/essays enclosed in the CD booklet (which folds out into a 13×13 poster of the cover), I think Hellstomper summed up the comp best: “On this album you will find testimonials from some of the only bands that matter.” Add to that the now-manditory “Live Free or Die” rant by The Tunnel Rats guitarist (and NH resident) Duke Crevenator, and you’ve got hard punk etiquette pretty much pegged: Drink a lot, smoke a lot, fuck everything that moves, and beat the ass of anyone who gets in yer way. Dig? Bands I haven’t name-dropped yet but contribute tracks to this obscene piece of filth: The Toughskins, ANTiSEEN, and Rancid Vat. The cover is by Crites, publisher of Malefact.
