The Gain

The Gain are a real Los Angeles punk band, with more in common with Dangerhouse bands circa ’79-’81 (Weirdos, Deadbeats, etc.) than most current L.A. bands. They have energy in their music, but there are some loose ends that stick out on this release (read: the band gains a lot of momentum but then falls flat on their faces with a shitty sounding chorus). But these are problems that can be overcome, so the Gain have some potential if they stick with it. Scared of Chaka are like the Queers on even more caffeine. This is the good stuff, like if Adrenalin O.D. played bubblegum punk and did it well.
