Pony – Fiction

Pony

We were facing the band and
I felt like
A million bucks
Fully charged on the ephedrine pony
Of sweet rock ‘n’ roll
Standing on chairs to see
Over the crowd
Sitting on shoulders
To catch a glimpse
To get a look at all the rage
All the strife-ridden shrapnel
Charging outta that gurls
Guitar
You were standing next to me
And
I hardly knew you at all
I
Said something clever
And you
Laughed
Looked at me and held it there
Eyes straight into mine
Smile fading and mouth slowly
Opening
Until I could see everything
Would be
Just fine…

You had all the guts
And you
Could have all the glory
If only
I could find
Your number…
