Pimple – Review

A poetry ‘zine, but with a surprising move. They don’t take themselves too seriously. Quoting from the instructions, “1. Powder your face until you appear ghostly and anemic. 2. Wait for a full moon. 3. Stare out the window at the moon in a melancholy fashion, let teardrops flow freely from your eyes, and recite the contents of this book.” The stuff is free verse, with some good phrases and adjectives. What it comes down to is that Pimple has fun with their depressing imageries. Self produced, limited edition, short, but so worth the effort. “And so Dyonne Warwyck’s torrid love affair came to a bitter end… but then, she’d known all along that it would.” A sense of humor takes this ‘zine further than it would ordinarily go. Smile, have a drink, read the ‘zine. It’s worth it.
