Napalm Death – Coalesce – In Tongues We Speak – Review

Napalm Death/Coalesce

In Tongues We Speak (Earache)
by Scott Hefflon

The first split Napalm Death has done in their 15 year history is also the last recording with vocalist Mark ‘Barney’ Greenway. The previously unreleased “Food Chains” and demo version of “Upward and Uninterested” complete the Napalm Death tracks, while brutally slamming hardcore band Coalesce combine the best elements of hardcore and monster metal production in “A Safe Place” and “Harvest of Maturity.” New Napalm Death singer Phil Vane, formerly of Extreme Noise Terror, won’t begin recording with the band until spring ’97 due to producer Colin Richardson’s work remixing the new Machine Head record. Now ex-Napalm Death vocalist Mark ‘Barney’ Greenway has been asked to record the next Extreme Noise Terror record, thus completing the loop.
