Panasonic – Kulma – Review

Panasonic

Kulma (Blast First/ Mute)
by Nik Rainey

Some latecomers from Finland, Panasonic, came next, drawing out thin filaments of sound and laying them atop one another to writhe and squirm. A cold, clinical breeze cut through us as they proceeded on their course of signals, drones and marches, far removed from the human pulse favored on the great plains of rock, furthering the work laid down by their Teutonic forefathers who helped found these grounds and were known in local legend as Kraftwerk. “What would you call that?” I asked an onlooker. “Finimalism,” he said, then smote me with a stick. I said not another word.
