Cemetary – Last Confessions – Review

Last Confessions (Black Mark)
by Scott Hefflon

Um, I’d like to say “ditto” and write these guys off, but I like this record more than I’ve liked anything else they’ve ever done (if memory serves). Tight, melodic, mean, and only occasionally falling into the prog/powermetal trap of silliness. Swell, I finally get an inkling of why people like this band, and then they break up. Perfect accompaniment to your next bender: melodramatic swells, larger-than-life snarls contrasted by thoughtful tinklings, stagger-happy paces, and manly lyrics to gibber at the top of your lungs.
