L.A.P.D. – Review

L.A.P.D.

(Triple X)
by Scott Hefflon

Before their was Korn, there was L.A.P.D. (Love and Peace Dude). Combining ’90’s self-titled EP and ’91’s, Who’s Laughing Now, this re-issue shows three members of Korn in their early, funky metal, solo-happy stages. Put it this way, maturity and the addition of vocalist Jonathan Davis were the deciding factors between bad power/ speed/funk metal obscurity and becoming one of the more distinctive-sounding bands of the late ’90s. Natural selection is ruthless. It’s stuff like this that really shows how far heavy music has come over the last few years.
