R.A.F.R. Vol. II – Review

R.A.F.R.

Vol. II (Flipside)
by Scott Hefflon

In the tradition of Vinyl Fanzines, The Big One, and R.A.F.R., Flipside showcases 30 bands ranging from established to virtual unknowns. R.A.F.R. II doesn’t sound like one band playing a variety of songs, and for that reason, it’s hard to listen to from end to end (not to mention review objectively). Many bands go for those glory days of under-produced, raw-sounding rawk, but some of them are just sloppy and stink of cheap nostalgia. Within the context of this comp, the harder bands seem to hold up better, but that could just be a personal preference. A good release to see what the less polished underside of punk sounds like.
