As uppity and snotty as the great garage gobs of daze gone bye, the Steel Miners knock through a pair of monoxide-damaged rockers as if rock got stuck in the groove chiseled by the Sonics and history was too stoned to get up and move the tonearm. No pomo irony or self-conch shell games here – their elevator’s been stuck on the 13th floor and there’s enough Roky Nuggets to play with that they never think to leave. And if they keep pumping out simple slabs of perfecto punque like this, I’m stayin’ right there with ’em.
