Trip to the Andes – Review

Trip To The Andes

Trip To The Andes claims to be “drum and bass, trip hop, trance and dub inspired by the music of Inca Quena, an album of pre-Hispanic Inca music.” That’s all well and good, but it kinda sounds like that A Guy Called Gerald remix of Can’s “Tango Whiskeyman” on Sacrilege (Mute). That is to say, I don’t hear a single thing that could be considered “Inca” on this disc. Okay, there are a few flutes, but mostly, it seems that T-Power, Aphrodite, µ-ziq, and Trans-global Underground (to name a few) had some tracks lying around that they tagged some samples on at the beginning and end. Still, it sounds pretty good, if you’re stoned, or coming down, or just don’t feel like moving much for 80 minutes or so.
