Hot Rods to Hell Vol.II – Review

Hot Rods to Hell

Volume II (Blood Red)
by Scott Hefflon

While Pulp Fiction and Rob Zombie’s new Zombie A Go-Go Records may be pushing reverb-heavy garage surf as the new wave for the kids, I just don’t buy it. Much of it sounds like dopey Beach Boys without the charm, boring guitar wank some stoner longhair with tassels and blue sunglasses is always trying to get you to dig, man, and, for the most part, I just don’t hear the drag racing adrenaline surge they keep saying is there. OK, a couple tracks I can envision burning rubber and crusin’ down the highway with the windows rolled down to, but The Original Sins should be “encouraged” to sell their instruments for what they did to Alice Cooper’s “Under my Wheels.”
