Activision Classics – Review

Activision Classics

(Activision for the PlayStation)

They’re ba-ack, 30 of the original Atari 2600 games that got it all started. Not too much to state here, besides the obvious. It’s perfect for late-night bouts of drunken boredom when all you can manage is to move and shoot with as few controls as possible. Pitfall!, River Raid, Kaboom!, and H.E.R.O are only a few of the geriatric titles available on this compilation. Sure, the graphics suck in comparison, the sound is god-awful, and control is as sticky as ever, but for us 25-and-uppers, it’s fun to remember how cool we thought we were back then. Besides, it’s only around 30 bucks (and a buck a game ain’t bad). Just think, if this is how far games have come in the last 20 years, I’m almost afraid to see what our kids will be playing after the next 20.
