Blindspot – Acceleration Zero – Review

Blindspot

Acceleration Zero (Tomato Head)
by Scott Hefflon

Buried in this thick mix is a good band. Ska with heavy guitars, Acceleration Zero sounds like stripped-down early Fishbone without the manic howls and clever lyrics (though it’s hard to tell with the muddy mix). With strong lead vocals (with a powerful warble), plenty of harmonies, madly jogging bass, and horns leaping out at every opportunity, not to mention all the rimshots and chika-chicka upbeat guitars, Blindspot are easily a band that’ll make crowds sway during the soulful tunes and skank their little hearts out during the peppy ones. Shame about the mix, though.
