Grief – Torso – Review

Grief

Torso (Pessimiser)
by Scott Hefflon

The second song, “Polluted,” confuses me. It’s, like, energetic. While the other six songs creep along, wallowing in their own black hate the way Grief songs should, “Polluted” is actually kinda snappy. Think Acid Bath in a really, really bad fuckin’ mood, without all the fancy shit. But even that song (after three of its eight minutes) staggers beneath the weight of Grief’s animosity. While not my personal listening taste (always kinda makes me think of pulling out your own teeth, one by one – a slow, excruciating process, to say the least), I’ve always been glad Grief exists, if for no other reason than to identify the sound of “plodding miserably” through life.
