Chamberlain – The Moon My Saddle – Review

Chamberlain

The Moon My Saddle (Doghouse)
by Tim Den

Chamberlain is officially my favorite band of the month. With images of wide horizons as backdrop, these boys from the Midwest dish out steady rock that will have you humming like a bee. Meaty guitar hooks, bluesy licks, and a feel that could drive a car on momentum alone, The Moon My Saddle doesn’t just rock your fucking balls off, it simmers deep beneath the waters of elegant pop and brings the most tear-jerking of tales back to the surface. The poetic lingerings of vocalist David Moore provide a detailed narrative into everyday life, love, and friendship of the American Heartland, especially on songs like “Good Enough” and “Crush You.” Others, such as “Mountain of a Heart,” “Until the Day Burns Down,” and “Stars in the Streetlight,” not only give courage to relationships and hope to the wounded, but offer optimistic futures for anyone who’s willing to believe in them. With a soulful voice and solid band behind him, Moore’s verbal portraits welcome listeners into a world where “keeping your head up” still reaps rewards. The Moon My Saddle will move you with its undeniable power and emotion, flooding you with so much beauty that you might not remember life without it.
