Boy Sets Fire – In Chrysalis – Review

Boy Sets Fire

In Chrysalis (Initial)
by Tim Den

Much heavier than their previous release, In Chrysalis sees Boy Sets Fire continuing their trek on the thin line between heaviness and “emo-ness.” Just like their previous work, the songs here concentrate really hard on being driving, and not enough on actual form. Many of the tunes seem so stream-of-consciousness that they barely keep my attention. The riffs and melodies simply come and go without making an impact, and in the process, totally lose my interest (while listening to this, I went from tapping my foot to noticing how I should be cleaning my room). Even as their best work to date, In Chrysalis is still not good enough to set Boy Sets Fire apart from the rest.
