Cattle Decapitation – To Serve Man – Review

Cattle Decapitation

To Serve Man (Metal Blade)
by Tim Den

Gore grind that flies off the handle as soon as you hit play. In the tradition of Carcass, Cattle Decapitation use their gory imagery as a protest against meat consumption (band members are all vegetarians), but I wonder if people will actually get the cover art (To Serve Man… stress the SERVE). Anyway, this isn’t as guttural as early Broken Hope, nor as abysmally claustrophobic as early Carcass/Napalm Death, but I’m sure it’ll sell shitloads of copies just cuz it has former members of (over-hyped, useless, ten years too late) The Locust. At least the song titles are as funny as the classics (“Testicular Manslaughter,” “Land of the Severed Meatus,” “Colonic Villus Biopsy Performed on the Gastro-Intestinally Incapable,” “Hypogastric Combustion by C-4 Plastique,” and “Chunk Blower”).
