The Apples In Stereo – Velocity of Sound – Review

The Apples In Stereo

Velocity of Sound (SpinArt)
by Tim Den

Remember that mid-’90s comp where guitar bands covered Saturday morning cartoon theme songs? That’s what Velocity of Sound sounds like. Songs so naturally infectious, so impossible to dislike, delivered via distorted guitars and dusty garage amps. Not unlike the Ramones and Cheap Trick’s appeal, The Apples In Stereo morph ’50s bubble gum pop into hurling piles of noise, maintaining their unmistakable hooks along the way. Saccharine choruses and sweaty power chords, what else do you need?
