One Eighty – Cracker Jack – Review

One Eighty

Cracker Jack (BEC)
by Scott Hefflon

It’d be impossible to review a skapunk band from O.C. with two female lead singers without mentioning Dance Hall Crashers, so let’s just get that outta the way right off the bat. These guys and gals are fun, peppy, and as cute as clean-cut Christian kids can be. (Let’s not go there – suffice it to say I can listen to Nordic and black metal easier than I can Godrock. Makes me squirmy.) With elements of surf, skate, ’50s rock, and swing culture, this lively group have the musical chops to turn heads as well as make them bop. A thoroughly enjoyable cover of the Go-Gos’ “Vacation” just sweetens the deal that much more.
