Part hardcore part metal, Yellow Machinegun may look like Shonen Knife, but they sound like metalcore. Guitars pulsing like a migraine, vocals roaring and screaming (but luckily not screeching like Yoko Ono), Yellow Machinegun combine evil half-step chords with simple, cut-to-the-bone skin smashing. While reminiscent of Malachite and a handful of other growling, all-female metal bands that’ve gone the way of Tokyo in a Godzilla movie, Yellow Machinegun is still pounding away at it.
