Bunjie Jambo – Potty Karate – Review

Bunjie Jambo

Potty Karate (Grappler Unlimited)
by Scott Hefflon

Ever wonder what the tuneless, strained yelping of Suicidal Tendencies would sound like over ska music? Me neither. The thought’s sickening, to be honest, and somewhat frightening. But the label that brought the Porn Flakes from complete obscurity to relative obscurity with The Number of the Beef, Cleveland’s Grappler Unlimited, has done us the great honor of providing the world the perfect opener for Kid Rock. Part fun rap, part tongue-in-cheek crudeness, part aren’t-these-inane-lyrics-clever? (actually, no), Bunjie Jambo write songs you can joyfully sing along with (even if you can’t sing, because neither can they). Dogs, mailmen, empty bellies, and, well, the title “Gimme A Dollar (So I Can Put It In That Stripper’s Underwear)” pretty much lets you know what yer getting. If a tenth of the losers who like Sugar Ray and Smashmouth get behind these guys, they’ll go far whether they deserve it or not.
