Kitty in the Tree – Hello Kitty – Review

Kitty in the Tree

Hello Kitty (Luna Sea)
by Scott Hefflon

Part BritPop, part space rock, NYC’s Kitty in the Tree purrs their way into your heart with wildly-infectious sugar pop melodies, layered guitars, and harmonies stacked to the high ceilings. Rainbows, smiles, and butt-wiggling drive these songs, and they occasionally rub up against ’70s folky harmonies (I’m thinking Crosby, Stills, and Nash for some reason).

The first three potential radio singles – “Starf**ker,” “She’s my Heroine,” and “Galaxy Holiday” – are strong enough to carry the record. For fans of watching Saturday morning cartoons stoned, Pop Tarts, Swizzle stix, and bands like Supergrass, Blur, early Beatles, and Weezer.
