AFI – The Art of Drowning – Review

AFI

The Art of Drowning (Nitro)
by Tim Den

At least now AFI can say “we have one album that doesn’t completely suck.” The Art of Drowning is (thank god) a lot less melodramatic and self-centered than their last full-length (the wannabe-hardcore Black Sails in the Sunset), realizing that all the posturing in the world can’t save a bad song. Including more cohesive structure and thought-out melodies (in both instrumentation and vocals), this just might be the first step for AFI to come out of the bumbling mist and see songwriting clearly.
