These Swede craftsmen meld folk, that uplifting sweep of melodic heavy metal (I always think of Helloween’s song/lyric “Eagle Fly Free” as the best way to describe it), some enchanting acoustic dreams, and a bit of gruff-voiced In Flames-esque material, just so you don’t get any ideas about these guy prancing about in tights with bells sewn into the seams or nuthin’. Actually, the rather frightening thing is that, although sung in their native tongue, the main vocalist sounds rather like Eddie Vedder. Add that detail to the mix, and you’ll see that that Vintersong is quite intriguing and worth a listen.
