Death By Stereo – Day of the Death – Review

Death By Stereo

Day of the Death (Epitaph)
by Tim Den

What a pleasant surprise. Who would’ve thought the valleys that gave us No Doubt could produce a maniacal machine like Death By Stereo? And who ever imagined a fierce punk band with chops!!?? Even I gave up on that dream long ago. Day of the Death is full of rousing anthems that never stop making sarcastic comments.

Titles like “No Shirt, No Shoes, No Salvation,” “Testosterone Makes the World Go ‘Round” (a nod to Dead Kennedy’s “Kinky Sex Makes the World ‘Round”?), “You Can Lead a Man to Reason, But You Can’t Make Him Think,” and “Porno, Sex, Drugs, Lies, Money, and Your Local Government” tells me these guys pay attention to the details. They take their cynicism and criticism to the mat like a bunch of rabid bulldogs and unleash one fuck of a call-to-arms, embellished by harmonics, paradiddles, and more fancy schmancy “musician” tricks.
