Disarming Violence – Review

Disarming Violence

(FastMusic)
by Scott Hefflon

25 songs totaling more than an hour, all punk rock, all to benefit PAX, an anti-gun violence (not anti-gun) organization (www.paxusa.com), what’s not to like? Addresses for each band are inside, as if ya don’t know most of these folks anyway. And while the sound quality fluctuates a bit here and there, that’s kinda to be expected when dealing with Name-Brand Bands and, um, “up-and-comers.” Most of the tracks are unreleased or not in wide circulation, so aside from the cause, there’s a damn good reason to shell out the bucks. Bands calling to disarm: Divit, Dag Nasty, Luckie Strike, NOFX, Cooter, The Thumbs, Big Wig, Pinhead Circus, Frownies, ALL, Deviates, Agnostic Front, Dead Center, The Phobes, Midtown, Dynamite Boy, The Story So Far, Useless ID, The Sharpshooters, Under the Gun, Blanks 77, Day 19, Ann Beretta, A New Found Glory, Youth Brigade.
