Drugged-out Muzak versions of such timeless classics as Gary Numan’s “Cars,” NIN’s “Head Like A Hole,” Soft Cell’s “Tainted Love,” Devo’s “Whip It,” and Dead or Alive’s “You Spin Me Right Round.” Also included are more rock-oriented standards like “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and “Been Caught Stealing,” but the moments when this Martin Atkins and friends project shines are during slow, plodding, fading-in-and-outta-consciousness moments like “Head Like A Hole” and “Cars.” Both use that wonderfully annoying Middle Eastern twangy instrument and the light pitter-patter of bongos and have all the makings of a trippy hang out.
