NRA – New Recovery – Review

NRA

New Recovery (Gearhead)
by Jon Sarre

I’ve listened to this a few times and I’m still less impressed with it than Mr. Hefflon (but that’s what he pays me for, ha!). Yeah, I see the lower-register Offspring or Mike Stipe frontin’ a real band (tho’ what if he still danced the way he does?) vox comparisons, but so what? Most of the songs sound similar, over-amped “traditional” three-chord punk rock, mebbe hopping into the way-too-big boots of Naked Raygun, but at least NR made interestin’ three chord punk rock, probably cuz they added a couple chords here and there and, y’know, had more imagination than NRA. The similarities pretty much end with the fact that they have two initials in common.
