Jangly, stringy-sounding, intricate guitar exercises that employ fragile sounding production and quick-stepping drummers. Red Shirt Brigade compose off-kilter vocal harmonies over their array of Fugazi riffs, while Volta Do Mar are more content letting “space sounds” do the talking when the band’s not strumming angular chords on their (what sound like) Telecasters. Difficult to sink your teeth into? Give it a few more spins and don’t try humming along.
