While I don’t mind the music of Soul Embraced – which comes off as a wonderful amalgamation of Sepultura, older-era Prong and Carcass, and some hardcore tendencies – the death metal vocal style is a bit irritating. It’s not really suitable for this complex, rapid-fire hardcore/metallic stomp. Some interesting ideas can be found here – most notably the diverse offerings “Evolver” and “The Scorn Of Death’s Kiss” – but for the most part, Soul Embraced is lacking structure.
