The Editor has told me that I can’t do ultra-short reviews, like “The Happy Mondays did this already, in 1991,” because it messes up the layout. So I gotta say something like “The Sleeping Flies are pretentious stoner college kids locked in their room with a bunch of expensive equipment their parents bought them churning out mind-numbing musical pap cleverly disguised at the next big thing in music while in reality they have been alienated by everything in their vacuous social existences which includes the tedious re-examinations of The Velvet Underground by virtually all college sophomores pulling out one-chord mantras seemingly from their rectums called in their venacular ‘indie rock’ so they turned to another incessent musical genre and got whacked out on E and LSD and mesc and glue and whatever and decided that gurls (sic) would like them better if they were more like those techno guys they saw on MTV but that was six years ago but only now has the technology gotten good enough to be able to appoximate that kind of style but who can tell the difference especially among the people they’re trying to impress so they’ll go for it and hope no one notices.” Or at least, that’s what it sounds like.
