The New York Rel-X – She’s Got a Gun/Paranoia – Review

The New York Rel-X

She’s Got a Gun/Paranoia (TKO)
by Scott Hefflon

To quote myself, Fuck Subtlety. This release combines the first two EPs called – you guessed it – She’s Got a Gun and Paranoia, and The New York Rel-X are, as you might guess, straight-forward, old school NY punk. No frills, no solos or pace-changes, just charging punk with female vocals kinda like Lunachicks, but simpler. The first six songs (presumably the latter stuff) sounds a lot better (both production-wise and composition-wise) than the later five, but we’re talking classic street punk, so “better” is kind of a silly distinction. It’s honest and bare-knuckled: That’s whatcha want and that’s whatcha get.
