People still can’t believe I was never a fan of Avail. Maybe that’s cuz none of their past albums have the grace and polish of Front Porch Stories. Hell, I think I’m beginnin’ to warm up to these guys. And not just cuz the recording has never sounded better – production values equal shit if the songs aren’t good – there’s just a certain something in this sixth full-length.

Call it a maturation of their deep fried Southern country punk rawk, call it “more singalongs than usual,” whatever. The tunes just sit better in my discman and come out of my singing-along mouth. Maybe it is time for me to finally see these guys live and be converted once and for all.
