Nada Surf – Let Go – Review

Nada Surf

Let Go (Barsuk)
by Tim Den

Quit your snickering, cuz this ain’t the Nada Surf you remember from high school. The classic pop here – slightly tilted toward indie Lemonheads-isms – is all Pacific Northwest understated elegance (funny, since the band’s from NY), saying a mouthful with economical arrangements. Let Go channels the full-bodied earnesty of Belle & Sebastian and Simon & Garfunkel, but melodically sounds much closer to unsung heroes Fl. Oz. All of which is jolly good, cuz Let Go is a solid, visceral, bittersweet dance with the best essence of pop. Welcome back, boys.
