If I had to pick the top hardcore bands out there right now, I’d definitely rank Shai Hulud up there alongside Converge, Darkest Hour, and Lickgoldensky. The energy and passion put into the latest Shai Hulud album is indescribable. Anger, darkness, frustration, and pain wrapped around some of the heaviest, most dynamic hardcore concoctions in some time. Not only is this a hardcore record, but like Converge’s detonating Jane Doe, this is a statement. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this album atop many music critic’s Top 10 lists at the end of the year.
