Rufio – Review

Rufio

(Nitro)
by Emily Joyce

Rufio‘s first EP introduces the listener to the next cute punk/emo band MTV kids are into these days. This enhanced CD gives you a sample of who Rufio are through two videos, a la Sum 41, and a photo gallery. Along with three songs, “Why Wait,” “Set it Off,” and “Don’t Hate Me,” this sampler gives a good indication of what Rufio can produce.

They’re comparable to New Found Glory, Taking Back Sunday, or any other band that Hot Topic promotes. These four young men simultaneously combine fast and intricate guitar work, with hard-fisted drums and the honest voice of Scott Sellers, creating a perfect recipe to sell records. Along with their youthful talent, these guys have time to make a name for themselves. Their first full-length CD in almost two years, MCMLXXXV (1985) comes out in June.
