Ben Davis – Aided & Abetted – Review

Ben Davis

Aided & Abetted (Lovitt)
by Tim Den

Ben Davis, best known for his bass playing and singing with bands such as Sleepytime Trio and Bats & Mice (as well as his drumming in Milemarker), returns with a second solo album. Aided & Abetted is pure pop, just like his debut, except this time Davis’ songs benefit from the playing of many friends/ex-bandmates such as Johnathan Fuller (Denali, Engine Down) and Cornbread Compton (Engine Down, Zetamale). The result is a myriad of overdubs shaping Pink Floyd melodies and Beach Boys harmonies into angular indie rock: The best of all worlds.
