Frodus – And We Washed Our Weapons in the Sea – Review

Frodus

And We Washed Our Weapons in the Sea (Fueled By Ramen)
by Tim Den

Long delayed due to the closing of the intended record company (MIA), And We Washed Our Weapons in the Sea is most likely the last chapter in the experience known as Frodus. These three childhood friends from VA have been through six years and countless tours together, in the end transforming into a storm of sonic explosions and contractions. They pushed hardcore’s envelope much like Refused, taking DC-core into electronic territories and blending it with subtle melodies. With fingers on the “spazz/calm” switch, Frodus effortlessly played off each other with technical precision (one of the band’s strengths) and never faltered when the switch was flicked one way or the other. With bass lines that hissed like voltage-enhanced cobras and drum patterns of the latest post-rock super-ensemble, And We Washed Our Weapons in the Sea is the last legacy of a band gone before its time… much like The Shape of Punk to Come for Refused. Here’s a toast to the revolutionaries.
