Jerra
Play Like a Girl (Sugar Hooker Entertainment)
by Scott Hefflon
I’m not a chauvenist, I’m a misanthrope. (I don’t hate women, or blacks or gays or Jews or any other “type” that I’m not, I hate everyone equally, until the individual proves to me they don’t suck.) Women are allowed to be in generic bar rock bands, just like guys are. Tits don’t help you rock, or write good songs. But they don’t hurt either. Jerra has a few good melodies, a few nice turns of phrase, and some cutesy stuff that makes my neither regions tingle. There’s also plenty of crap that makes me reach to shut the damn thing off. So it’s not that I’m a woman-hater or think only guys can rock. Jerra is welcome to rock. I wish she did more than she does. Keep opening for good bands, learn yer craft, develop a style and stop relying on sex appeal and then blaming me for thinking you sound hot, and then put out a good CD.
