Some people really like this indie pop band, and while I can tell they’re better than the worst trendy boppers who are all genre cliché with no real identity or tunes, this is still way too deliberate for me. Nice fuzzy guitars, nice clear vocals, nice dancey beats, and some hummable melodies I forget when the next song starts. Nothing much to grip onto, and similarly, nothing much to make you leap across the room to shut the damn thing off. Self-aware and intentionally clever (and wanting you to notice), and quite pleasant to sit through. Fans will rush out and buy this anyway, and the rest of us will wonder what the over-hyped fuss is about.
